Barbara Hepworth

Barbara Hepworth was an English sculptor who originally trained in Leeds. She was once married to Ben Nicholson till around 1951. After her training, she moved to St Ives in 1939 where her garden, which is now part of the Barabara Petworth Musem and Scuplure Garden, which can be view by any members of the public. Unlike similar artists such as Henry Moore, who originally started out creating natural form pieces, Hepworth sculptures were of an abstract design.

Hepworth, Barbara in 1934, explained that she wanted ‘to make exactly the right relation of masses, a living thing in stone, to express my awareness and thought of these things’
